Rangers have fought off some pretty strong opposition this summer when it has come to signing new players, Malik Tillman the latest to arrive who is said to have attracted interest from the Premier League.

The 20-year old USA international is an exciting prospect and to get him in on loan is a massive coup, to secure an exclusive option to buy could be a master stroke, the “Ross Wilson out” brigade have gone pretty quiet recently.

So, what are we getting?

Tillman was praised by Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann for his ability to play as an attacking midfielder or a central striker, exactly what we need, a number ten who is a natural forward rather than an advanced, creative midfielder.

Trawling through social media and YouTube, it’s easy to see why Bayern were reluctant to let him go and why Wilson was so keen to have the option of making him a permanent Rangers player.

Goals off either foot, the ability to beat a man and a powerful physique, Tillman has – and I say this very carefully – shades of Zinedine Zidane about how he plays, stylistically at least.

The only question  now is, how do we fit all the talent into the team at the same time?

The exciting thing is that Tillman, Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence have all been brought in to contribute to the goals for column so we could be in for an exciting season if Giovanni van Bronckhorst can get the balance right, the mantra of “keeping the zero” looks to have been replaced a more attacking mindset .

By my maths, the squad is pretty much sorted unless, of course, Calvin Bassey leaves in the coming days then we’ll be starting all over again.
