Rangers pursuit of Malik Tillman from Bayern Munich has been given an interesting update with a loan to buy option said to be included.
The update comes from Derek Rae, US-based the German football commentator and enthusiast with Rangers working hard to get the deal over the line amid interest from other clubs.
As reported earlier today, it is expected that Tillman will be confirmed as part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad for the coming season, imminently.
Medical check for Bayern & #USMNT’s Malik Tillman with Europa League runners up Rangers. Deal tending towards a loan with an option to buy. However Bayern will likely want a buy back option for themselves as part of the deal. To be sorted out. 1/2

Rae added to the initial update:
“2/ If this goes through, good news for Tillman in his quest to get game time in a World Cup year.”
“Good news for #USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter as one of his newest recruits will play in front of large crowds, testing himself in a passionate football country under pressure.”
Incentive
There will be shades of the Ryan Kent move from Liverpool, if it transpires that Rangers will indeed have a permanent option to secure the US international.
Previous ‘development’ loans with no likelihood of a deal have tended not to work out with the likes of Amad, Ejaria, Ojo in recent seasons.
The dynamic changes with the player, club and supporters if there is a route to a continued relationship, a vested interest in the future and building a future together. It will be very interesting to see just how the deal is structured in a way that is agreeable to all parties and as intimated by Rae, there is also an interest in terms of international football with the German born player now part of the USMNT set up.
