Ross Wilson looks to have pulled off something of a coup if the reports of Malik Tillman’s move from Bayern Munich are accurate.

The Times claims that there is an option to buy clause as part of the loan deal which is an added bonus for a player who is already a full USA international at the age of just 20, that Germany fought to keep him as part of their set-up on further highlights how promising a talent he is.

Writing on their Patreon site, The 4th Official has confirmed that he is on his way to join the squad for the friendly against Blackpool this weekend but also gave an update concerning Calvin Bassey for those worrying that we could lose our most valuable player for less than market value:

“While I didn’t need to ask my source much about Tillman, I did ask him about what is the situation with Calvin Bassey.

”It’s still the same with Rangers not going to entertain any bids below £20m-£25m. It seems more likely that a Premier League side will come in with that offer given the groundwork done by a few sides previously.

“I couldn’t confirm (for obvious reasons) whether Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder spoke with Bassey over the phone. There has been no bid by Ajax until now and any tries to get him for below £20m-£25m will simply not be entertained.”

Encouraging news. Vital Rangers has long held the belief that Bassey shouldn’t leave for anything less than a Scottish transfer record.

His ability to play a number of different positions, his athleticism, attitude, availability and, above all, his potential to develop even further, mark him out as a top talent.

We will obviously have to replace him but at least we have Borna Barisic who can be relied upon at left-back, the only issue is that centre-half is a little short of quality with Leon Balogun having left and Filip Helander currently injured. John Souttar is an outstanding player but he doesn’t have the availability of Bassey or Connor Goldson.

An interesting transfer window just got an awful lot more interesting, we’ve gone from tinkering to full scale transition.
