Rangers look set to lose a hugely important player in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team when Calvin Bassey signs on the dotted line for a new club in the next few days and for all that we are reasonably well covered, it looks as though we already have potential targets in mind.
The Nigerian international is a hard act to follow in how he plays at left-back and centre-half but Ross Wilson will have a template of the type of player that he will want to bring in with the Gers gaffer being refreshingly honest in what our plans are:

“We are in talks with clubs who are interested. It looks like Calvin is moving on.
“When you have players who are playing very well in the league and also in Europe then the attention will be there but I think in the end everything we do I think it has to be in the best interest of the club.
“We have to look for another player to add to the squad but we have our list ready so once the deal is done we can work on another player coming in.”
It will be interesting to see what position Gio is talking about, on paper, it looks like left-back is the one most likely to see a new arrival seeing as Borna Barisic is the only other senior player in that role.
This summer was always going to see one or two players moving on but because of the versatility of Bassey and Joe Aribo we will probably bring in more players than if, say, Glen Kamara and Ryan Kent were sold.
At least we aren’t short a bob or two.
