One down, two to go – unless there are others that we don’t know about of course.

Todd Cantwell has been confirmed as a Rangers player with the 24-year old signing a long-term deal and already in training, who will be next is a more difficult matter.

A third bid for Morgan Whittaker hasn’t been made yet, however, with Swansea City not playing until February we do have time on our side with that one, the next bid shouldn’t be far away in terms of what the Championship outfit wants.

Nicolas Raskin is the interesting one. Standard Liege have made him unavailable for selection after the Under-21 international confirmed that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract and reports are that we have agreed personal terms.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer journalist Dean Jones reckons that a deal could be imminent:

“Yeah, he might be heading in. Beale’s been talking it up, his contract situation is leading to a moment when his current club have to decide, basically, whether they can let this roll on much longer.

“Rangers are in a pretty good position, to be honest, to take advantage of the uncertainty.”

Raskin is the missing piece in midfield in that he is a truly natural defensive midfielder who is capable of playing forward passes and, with interest from much better leagues than the Scottish Premiership, it will a massive coup to get someone with his profile signed either now or in the summer.

Reports suggest that it is just a fee that needs to be agreed now and that Raskin could well be next through the door, a window that started slowly is, finally, kicking into life.
