It looks as though the wait for Rangers second signing of the transfer window won’t be a long one with the breaking news that a delegate from the club is traveling to Belgium to thrash out a fee.

The news, reported by Belgian journalist Sacha Tovolieri, claims that the deal is in the final stages:

For those who didn’t do Standard Grade French, the post reads as:

“We announced it on Thursday…  Nicolas #Raskin soon at #RangersFC !  Player agreement  4 and a half year contract.  Medical tests last week   The Scottish leaders are coming to Liège to finalize the deal with #RSCL in the coming hours.”

Tovolieri goes on to reveal more details about the potential fee and that Ross Wilson is hoping to secure a bargain:

“Nicolas #Raskin passed 2 rounds of medical examinations this week and was well in London on Tuesday and Friday for a thorough examination. Le #Standard is claiming 2.5M € + stage at resale for the middle of #RSCL but the deal could close at ~1M € .”

If Wilson was able to sign Raskin for a fee of around €1m it would be an incredible bit of business given the clubs that have previously been linked with the Belgium Under-21 international, yes, he is out of contract in the summer but, on this occasion I don’t think that is relevant. For me, it’s about the quality of the player we are signing and the fee it would cost.

When Todd Cantwell was announced, his length of contract was revealed as “long-term” and, with Raskin rumoured to have signed a  four and a half year deal, it could be that the English midfielder has put pen to paper on something similar.

Getting Raskin signed up to a contract already makes negotiations easier, hopefully, the good news keeps on coming and a deal is announced soon
