Other than Ben Davies, the Rangers rumour mill has gone a little quiet after the burst of signings that included Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and then the coup of Malik Tillman but there is a name that continues to linger.

On Transfermarkt, for each club, there is a section dedicated to current rumours and at the top of the list for Rangers was Ben Davies with a likelihood rating of 98% of him signing from Liverpool, a deal that just hours later was announced.

Theo Bongonda was mentioned as a possible target a few weeks ago, the KRC Genk winger coming into the last year of his current deal having moved to the Belgians for around £6million, the same fee that is apparently being quoted now despite his contract status.

Rangers fans shouldn’t get too excited though because the chances of a transfer have now dropped to just 37% which is probably due to the signing of Matondo from Schalke.

There have been reports of interest in Fashion Sakala though so it may be that Ross Wilson’s looking to make a few pounds out of the Zambian international and replace him with someone who may be a little more consistent in terms of performance.

In 135 games in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Bongonda has a goal or an assist every two games, the sort of return that we would expect from a wide forward or winger. It looks like he won’t get the chance to strut his stuff at Ibrox though but, as with any transfer window, anything could happen until it officially “slams” shut.
