Ibrox, 3pm on a Saturday? In the ever-changing world of modern football, the traditional kick-off time is a rare event, even more so for a team that is usually on TV or playing in midweek too.

This weekend sees the opening of Edmiston House, or re-opening if you want to be pedantic, with a first come, first served access likely to cause the usual moaning from the usual faces rather than appreciating that we will soon have a facility that will be of huge benefit to the club, both for fans and for the finances.

Things are improving off the pitch but it is three points on it that takes priority and St Johnstone are the team to beat, fresh from our 3-2 Scottish Cup win over Callum Davidson’s side, there should be no surprise to what they will bring.

Michael Beale is starting to get a few more options in his squad but this is who I think he will go with:

The Gers gaffer seems to have settled on a starting lineup but I would expect to see more strength off the bench for this one. Antonio Colak, John Souttar, Ianis Hagi and new signing Todd Cantwell are a significant upgrade on what we have seen recently.

The only change I would make from last weekend is to bring Glen Kamara back in from the start with St Johnstone likely to be more defensive than they were in the cup. When the front four are all contributing with numbers it’s hard to justify dropping any of them, especially when we are only playing one game a week so it’s up to the players who come off the bench to change the manager’s mind.

We are creating plenty of chances, missing a lot of them too, all that we need to do now is cut out the stupid self-inflicted goals and, ideally, score first for a change.

Is it too much to ask?
