Michael Beale has been far from subtle when addressing transfer speculation this month, the Rangers boss has been more than willing to give updates on players who may be coming in as well as those that, potentially, might be leaving.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, once upon a time, was confident that Alfredo Morelos was going to sign a new contract, however, this increasingly looks more and more unlikely as the days and weeks tick by, not that there has been a mad rush of clubs in for his signature.

Speaking earlier this week, Beale revealed that a new number nine will be a priority in the summer which suggests that we are going to be at least one body down, you would think that this means the Colombian international is, at least, waiting until the end of the season before deciding his future but, speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer journalist Dean Jones reckons that there could still be movement in the next 24 hours.

“Clubs have been made aware of his situation and his potential availability.

“And it’s at this point of a window when you would kind of expect those interested clubs to come forward because let’s face it, if you’ve got a particular problem, and you’re a bit desperate, this is the moment to try and solve that with a player like Morelos.”

Time is running out if Rangers are happy to let Morelos go, ideally, you would want to make sure that we can get our first choice replacement to come in. I’d have to question if just over a day is not enough to see this happen.

Morelos, on £32,500 basic per week,  will leave a big hole in the squad and it is a position that Ross Wilson and Beale will have to get right at the first time of asking, rushing something through isn’t an option.
