Rangers attempts to add quality to Michael Beale’s squad looks as though it is going to go down to the final hours of the window with one new signing almost certain to join and another, apparently, being shelved.

Unfortunately, as reported already by Vital Rangers, Morgan Whittaker has been priced out of  a move to Ibrox by Swansea City with the Gers gaffer confirming that the 22-year old winger will be staying at his parent club, as reported by The Scottish Sun:

”He will be staying at Swansea, I believe.” He replied when asked for an update on the deal that was said to have seen us bid £2million.

Whittaker has been keen on the move, and who can blame him, however, unless something changes, he will be stuck in the Championship for the foreseeable future.

Beale has been open about our transfer business – if anything he has been too open – but he has also suggested that some of the stories in the press haven’t been 100% accurate.

Whittaker always seemed to be a “nice to have” rather than a “must have”, he has posted decent numbers, would be a good fit in terms of where he plays positionally but, with Ianis Hagi fit, Todd Cantwell signed and Fashion Sakala arguably being our best player since the manager restored him to the team, it would have been a decent fee for somewhere that we are well catered for now.

What will be interesting is whether or not we see a name appear from nowhere, I always thought that we might see another striker come in but Beale has already written that one off until the summer. He has been ademant that quality is more important than quantity and with Nicolas Raskin and Cantwell, he has, at least, been true to his word on that count.
