It has been stated that two La Liga clubs have expressed an interest in Rangers’ Fashion Sakala with the Zambian preparing to battle for a place in the team at Ibrox this coming season.

Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad are the clubs said to have made an enquiry, but it is thought that no move is anticipated by Rangers unless something drastic happens in terms of a bid for the player.

Following the arrivals of Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence in particular, Sakala’s chances of game time will be challenged and with Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman giving Giovanni van Bronckhorst additional options in terms of his striker, the extent of the task ahead for the former Oostende player is very clear.

However, Fashion Junior’s indomitable belief and application will mean he will simply crack on, work hard and seek to make the most of the opportunities that come his way.

Impact

Whilst his play can be awkward and erratic, Fashion Sakala poses a threat to defences in the Scottish Premiership as he proved last season. He can be very content with the return on his first season in Scotland so it is no surprise that he believes he can achieve more.

As reported, Sakala wants to improve on his numbers from his debut campaign having recorded nine goals over 30 appearances in the Premiership with six assists. He proved to be very adept at making a contribution off the bench for Rangers, which isn’t a desired accolade for any pro but it is a vital skill and not something that all players can contribute.

It’s a squad game and Sakala has already proven his worth. The more goals in the team, the better – don’t write off the man from Zambia just yet.
