A fresh report from Turkey has claimed that Besiktas have accepted an offer from Rangers for their highly rated left back Ridvan Yilmaz

The international player is now entering the last 12 months of his existing deal in Istanbul, leading to the potential of a move abroad with different clubs interested.

Reputable journalist Gökmen Özcan provided the following:

“Rangers offered Beşiktaş a bonus 6.5 million Euros for Rıdvan Yılmaz, plus a 20 percent share of the subsequent sale.”

“The proposal is the same as in Frankfurt. But the payment terms are better. The club looks at the proposal positively. Rıdvan gave the green light to Scotland.”

Encouraging

That would mean an outlay of just over £5.5 million at Ibrox which would be a substantial outlay for the club.

The fact that this story has developed without a denial from sources close to Rangers as well as the updates over recent days from Turkey indicates that the interest is real and now a deal could be imminent.

Bringing in such a player like Yilmaz, with international experience and a league winner with Besiktas would allow Borna Barisic to continue to play and compete for the jersey in the short-term with an eventual succession plan depending on how quickly the replacement for Calvin Bassey would settle.

At just 21 and on his first potential move to a club outside of his homeland, there would be an element of a ‘project’ with Yilmaz but the scouting reports and highlights reels indicate that he certainly knows his way around the left flank on the pitch.

With just over a week to go until the start of the competitive season, Rangers business is not finished yet and this move represents another exciting prospect at Ibrox.
