Since Ross Wilson arrived at Rangers, the prevalence of “in the know” social media accounts regarding possible transfers has almost disappeared, in short, nobody knows our business.
Occasionally, as in the case with Dejan Ljubicic, outlets might identify a player who fits the profile that we might need, put two and two together and – if they are lucky – come up with four, that the Austrian revealed our interest at least shows that we have a rough idea of what we are talking about at Vital Rangers!
Newest kid on the block SM Media caused a bit of a stir amongst Rangers fans when they revealed that we were still in the hunt for Heerenveen’s Joey Veerman:
“Rangers are still very interested in signing Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman who is eager to leave the club to play in the Champions League.
“Rangers have made an approach for the 22-year old midfielder and it is understood a fee of between £6-8 Million is being discussed.
“The deal isn’t anywhere close to happening but I have it on good authority that Veerman is a top target for Rangers and they really want to get a deal done. Long way to go though.”
It would be a massive coup if we could land a third player who is being tracked by teams in the top five leagues after the signings of Fashion Sakala and John Lundstram, Veerman might demand a decent transfer fee but under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister, you’d expect him to improve even further. That he is unhappy at his club’s current treatment of him could do us a favour.
