Gers target fumes at club and reveals “crazy” price tag blocking move

|

It’s always fun when a player you have been linked with starts causing problems for the club they are playing for isn’t it?

It’s pretty clear that Joey Veerman has no intentions of staying at Heerenveen next season and is pressing hard for a move away from the Eredivisie side, however, as revealed by the Dutch Under-21 international, there is one massive stumbling block for potential suitors – the transfer fee.

Speaking to VI, Veerman explains why he is far from happy with his current club as he looks for a move away from the Netherlands after an offer from Serie A side Verona was recently knocked back:

“I think the Italians have made a very reasonable offer, but when I hear what Heerenveen is asking, it can sometimes be a very different story.

“Ten to twelve million? I think that’s crazy. After a corona year with empty stadiums, the money is pretty much gone everywhere.”I honestly don’t think this makes any sense.’

“But then they (the club) say ‘you still have a contract for three years. If it doesn’t work out this year, we’re going to enjoy you for another year and ask again next season.’

“I’m very sorry about that, because I’m ready for something else. I’m having a good time in Heerenveen and I’m playing football well, but I’m just ready for a new challenge.

“The plan was to find it this summer, but I wonder if it will ever happen. I’m disappointed about that.

“There are several interested clubs that I am very positive about and Verona is one of them.”

Verona, reportedly, offered in the region of €5million (£4m give or take) which would bring Veerman well into our price range but with other stories claiming that Heerenveen are looking for upwards of £9m, we could well be priced out of the race.

Football Insider claims that we will be making “one or two more major signings” though and a player of Veerman’s profile with seven goals and ten assists from midfield is certainly an exciting proposition, over to you Mr Wilson.
