No more chances despite Gers star’s dazzling international display

Just when you think his Rangers career is over, Jordan Jones goes and does something that makes you think again.

The Northern Ireland international looked to be well down the pecking order at Ibrox after the signings of Scott Wright and Fashion Sakala but after scoring his first goal for his country and excelling in a 3-0 win over Malta, there may yet be another second chance afforded to the 26-year old.

Jones is contracted with Rangers until 2023 but the smart money would still be on him getting sold this summer, three goals and four assists in a loan spell at Sunderland including a couple of eye-catching moments should be enough to remind potential suitors of his ability.

It’s just hugely frustrating what happened this season, just as he had worked his way back into Steven Gerrrard’s good books and had put in some decent performances, he earns himself a seven-game ban, a night out that has probably cost him his Rangers career.

These Gers fans are undecided on his future, talent is one thing but attitude is an altogether different issue…

Jones is a good player, we’ve seen him dominate Europa League games and make an impact domestically, however, he just wasn’t posting the numbers that Gerrard demanded in terms of goals and assists, something that Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe and, hopefully, Sakala will be able to do from the right-hand side of the Gers attack.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

It’s maybe tempting to be seduced by him again but there can’t be anyway back for Jones, he’s had his chance, and he blew it.
