Rangers have been linked with a host of central midfielders already and the transfer window *checks watch* has only just opened.

The biggest area of concern this summer has to be midfield, probably the only area of the park that will need additions without any player heading clearing out their locker to make room and, thankfully, the good guys at Heart and Hand have provided a fascinating insight into some recently linked targets and two players who could make an impact next season.

Adam Thornton, host of the Scout Report is joined by Josh Hobbs who is a player analyst and writer whose day job is to scout players across the continent for Five Yards, a transfer market for fans and on the show they cover what impact Stephen Kelly and Nnamdi Ofoborh could make next season as well as looking at transfer rumours.

One name who has attracted a lot of attention is Joey Veerman, a Netherlands youth cap currently playing for Heerenveen and would command a transfer fee of around £8.5million if reports are to be believed.

Thornton and Hobbs waxed lyrical about the 22-year old with the latter claiming that he is a “budget Kevin de Bruyne”, high praise indeed, however, his fee might just be out of our reach, unless there are departures.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

One thing is clear though, he is a talented player and one that could operate almost anywhere in Rangers midfield, to see us even linked with players of this quality is a sign we are moving in the right direction, if we were to sign him, it would be confirmation.
