The one place that Rangers will look to strengthen in the summer will be in midfield, for a variety of reasons, and as we saw to our cost against St Johnstone, we need more depth.

One previous target who has re-emerged is Juninho Bacuna of Huddersfield Town, as reported by Yorkshire Live,  who will be out of contract in the summer if the Championship side don’t take up the option of extending his contract by a further year, even if they do though, he would still be available for a cut-price fee rather than his £4.5million valuation.

With Eredivisie and Premier League experience, 23-year old Bacuna has shown that he can compete at the highest level, that he has played in nine different positions also demonstrates his technical ability, although he has played the vast majority of his football in the middle of the park, his obligatory YouTube highlight reel gives an insight into what he could bring to Ibrox.

He has five goals and three assists to his name this season, a decent return for someone not expected to get into the box or beyond strikers, we need only to look at the likes of Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara to see that these numbers are not how our midfielders are judged.

Perhaps more importantly, he has only missed five games through injury since 2018, durability is hugely important for a team that can play up to 60 games in a season, he’s also not been suspended since the 2017/18 season when he was at Groningen and even then it was for just one game.
