The indications are that this is more like the continuation of the formal process and the beginning of the end of Yilmaz at Besiktas in what is an exciting acquisition for Rangers.

With an outlay of around five million pounds, the significance of this deal is obvious.
It will be a landmark deal for the club as well as a serious reinvestment in terms of a replacement for Calvin Bassey, following the Nigerian international’s move to Ajax.
21-year-old Turkey international Yilmaz was said to be close to completion on a £4million switch to Gers Europa League foes Eintracht Frankfurt but the German club could not close the deal.
It is thought that Eintracht’s plan to schedule the fee in instalments was rebuffed by Besiktas wish for a lump sum leading to a breakdown – a situation that has been turned to Rangers advantage.
Incredibly, this anticipated transfer deal for Ridvan Yilmaz will be Rangers seventh signing this Summer. None of the new players – John Souttar, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo, Malik Tillman, Ben Davies – are squad fillers. All are serious acquisitions for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team with the overall level of the squad improved.
Much more has been delivered from GvB and Ross Wilson than most supporters will have expected, providing an exciting suspense on the competitive season to come.
