Rangers star Andy Halliday believes the playing squad need to find in-house solutions to solve the current discipline problems at the club, even suggesting that they could voluntarily agree to be fined wages.

The Gers have seen red an incredible eight times already this season, putting Steven Gerrard’s squad under real strain at critical moments of the season.

The latest received by Alfredo Morelos was a step too far for many, with the striker missing out on yesterday’s trip to Dundee, potentially costing the Gers points.

The Colombian previously missed out on a League Cup semi-final, leaving Gerrard with just Umar Sadiq to call upon in attack.

Halliday believes it has to change and is willing to take drastic action to see it happen.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the boyhood Gers fan said:

The amount of red cards we’ve had has been unacceptable. Some have been harsh, but some have been justified. If it’s going to cost you points it’s going to cost you medals, so it’s something we’re not happy about.

Something has to change and we’ve not come up with the solution yet. Maybe it’s taking money off players. We might need to have a chat in-house about what we can do.

Hopefully solutions are found because losing key players for big matches has been so frustrating over the last couple of months, especially when the sending offs and yellow cards have been completely avoidable.

The players submitting themselves to voluntarily fines may be unusual, but if it solves the problem then I’m all for it.
