Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter has admitted that he and his teammates failed to repay the faith shown in them by manager Steven Gerrard after drawing 1-1 away to Dundee yesterday.

Fitness problems have blighted Rossiter’s time at Rangers and he had started just once this season prior to yesterday’s tripe to Tayside.

He was unconvincing in the middle of the park and while there were arguably worse performers in the Gers starting eleven, the former Liverpool man hasn’t done his chances of a more regular game much good.

After the match he admitted as much, telling The Scottish Sun:

The gaffer is upset and understandably. He’s given a lot of lads their chance and we haven’t repaid him. Once Dundee regrouped in the second half we just couldn’t get the breakthrough, and it’s really disappointing.

We went top of the league against Hearts last week, but since then we’ve lost to Aberdeen and now this. You can be the highest of the high one week, and the lowest of the low another.

Rossiter’s ability to play regularly for Rangers may now be in question but he at least has the right attitude and it seems he is the only player to come out and speak to press after the disappointing result.

Gerrard was quick to criticise his players after the match too, claiming he now knows who he can trust and who he can’t. Which group Rossiter is in remains to be seen.
