Rangers are very close to a major boost in the form of a return for three senior first team players, according to reports following the Blue Room press conference yesterday.

A source close to Vital Rangers has revealed information from the gathering on Thursday afternoon when those present were able to ask further questions to Michael Beale and Ross Wilson after the broadcast content finished.

It was intimated that Connor Goldson, Ben Davies and Kemar Roofe are all very close to a return to first team contention, with the Jamaica international already prominent in the scenes from Auchenhowie as Beale and his new team of coaches get their work underway. The tempo has been sharp and snappy with a seemingly positive uptake from the Rangers players in return.

A lift in spirits as well as the intensity is most welcome but it is still disappointing how far the levels had fallen in recent months, even if the direction of Giovanni van Bronckhorst had been underwhelming to say the least.

Beale was right to mention the injury issue with around eight first team figures still on the treatment table to an extent with a timframe of several weeks before everyone is back available if all goes to plan:

“It’s fair to say we’ve got some key injuries at the moment, we need to get them back fit because they’ll certainly make us stronger. We don’t want to use that as an excuse right now but it will certainly make us stronger over time when they get back and then we’ll look at that.”

The new boss added further from the press conference in addition to the potential return of Roofe:

“In the coming month we will have Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence as well and all of a sudden we will have a much stronger squad and a much stronger Rangers.”

Quite simply, having Goldson back will be huge for the team and especially, the new manager. Beale knows all about the quality and importance of having the long serving central defender as well as how much he was missed prior to the World Cup break. Hopefully the downtime has been very beneficial to Davies getting himself sorted and over the niggles that prevented him from making a full impact so far.

If that key defensive duo can rekindle their partnership on a firm basis of fitness moving forward, it can create a platform of stability for the team to go and play.
