Transfer rumours are usually judged on the quality of the source and origin of the story, and one that refuses to go away is a perfect example of this.

Santiago Moreno is said to be one of many names being lined up by Ross Wilson to improve Rangers squad and take it to the “next level” needed to compete in the Champions League, however, the sources that Football Insider have conflict with those of Vital Rangers in terms of how keen we really are to make a deal.

The site does have credibility after being the first to report deals for both Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin last season and claim that:

“Rangers have been told they can land Colombian target Santiago Moreno for £2million less than his initial valuation.

“America de Cali had valued the explosive forward, 21, at around the £5m mark amid strong interest from Premier League clubs.

“But a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Rangers have been in contact with the Colombian side and learned £3m would seal a summer deal.”

This contradicts our own information which is that our sporting director isn’t actively looking for any more attacking players and that a number six and number eight remain our priority this summer, especially if there are any outgoings.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

As already highlighted by Vital Rangers though, this could easily change depending on what offers we get and who we get them for, unfortunately it isn’t as simple as choosing who we want to sell, thankfully, we have a top quality squad now which can survive the loss of one or two players.

Time will tell on this story, but if I had to choose a horse in this race, I’d be backing my own….
