I tell you something, even if half the rumours are true, we are going to have some squad next season.

The latest speculation has seen Colombian forward Santiago Moreno linked with a move to Ibrox with Football Insider reporting that we are in a £5million battle with Leeds United for the 21-year old.

“The Colombian plays as a wide forward for America de Cali in the Colombian league. He is blisteringly quick and his playing style has been compared to Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane.

“Moreno is valued at the £5m mark.

“Encouragingly for Rangers and the rising star’s other suitors, he would be granted Governing Body Endorsement (“GBE”) as he’s played in the Copa Libertadores this season. It is the highest level of competition in south American club football and demonstrative of the pedigree and promise of Moreno.

“He has been a regular scorer and creator this season, with his 22 appearances in all competitions yielding five goals and four assists.”

Football Insider also claims that the move for Moreno comes out of necessity after the recent increase in interest in Ianis Hagi, despite only being at the club for 18-months, he is already being targeted for a move by both Lazio and Sevilla, a reported £10m release clause seems to be on the cheap side but would still represent a £7m profit on the Romanian international.

With Fashion Sakala already in the door, there seems to be a subtle shift in the profile of target for this summer, especially in attack, Moreno would add yet more pace to a forward line that will soon be competing in the Champions League and is an exciting prospect – watch this space…
