Ross Wilson take a bow.

The Rangers sporting director was taking absolute pelters after drawing with Ross County at the weekend, not that the result had anything to do with him or the players he had signed, rather a group of senior professionals having absolute stinkers.

In the last couple of months he has; extended the contracts of Glen Kamara, Jon McLaughlin and Leon King, signed one of the USA’s hottest talents, signed a Scotland international on a pre-contract, signed £37million Amad Diallo on loan from Manchester United and now, surpassing them all, has signed Aaron Ramsey from Juventus, a player with nearly 550 senior appearances and nearly 175 goals/assists in these games.

Unbelievable.

The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell wrote a while back about the strategy that the club now adopts when approaching players, using presentations to demonstrate how a player will be managed and the attributes that attracted the club to them in the first place.

It’s easy to look at players like Jack Simpson and John Lundstram and suggest that his transfer strategy hasn’t been a successful one, questions about his ability to strengthen the first XI should now also be silenced, nobody can argue that Diallo and Ramsey don’t significantly improve our line up.

It’s been an incredible day for Rangers fans with the signing of an international class player known across the continent as one who can score and create goals from midfield and we still have eight hours left of the transfer window to go, after what we’ve seen so far, I think Ross Wilson deserves a day off tomorrow.
