Rangers have been crying out for a midfielder that can dictate attacks and contribute at the sharp end of the pitch, the Wales international capable of rotating with both Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo in the 8 and 10 positions in the middle of the park.
Ramsey will also add to the leadership group of the team given his vast experience in the Premier League and for his country, a genuine top class professional, well respected by his peers – yes, he has had injury problems but he has still amassed over 500 professional appearances including 70 for Juventus.
When Rangers fans woke up this morning, we maybe expected to complete deals for a couple of back up full-backs and maybe get John Souttar in early, however, this really has surpassed all expectations, especially the fact that our sporting director has negotiated an option to buy for a player who should be miles out of our reach.
It is though, another indication that we are back on the big stage in terms of our pulling power, a truly marquee signing.
