Even though it doesn’t look like Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be getting sacked any time soon, Rangers fans have already started making a list of who they would want to replace the under-pressure Dutchman.

Household names like Sean Dyche and Ralph Hasenhuttl alongside Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutson are seen as popular choices but some fans have been looking a bit closer to home.

Phoning into Clyde Superscoreboard, Rangers fan Tam has had his say on who he thinks should be next to take charge:

“When Mr Gerrard left the club for Aston Villa I felt that Neil Warnock would be a great appointment but he’s now retired.

“I’ve seen a few people on social media ask for Davie Martingale from Livingston, he’s someone who gets this club he would definitely make us tick and, if we can beat them at New Year, the title would be in the bag.

“But that’s only if Ross Wilson and the board act now.”

If you think that the current style of play isn’t great, Martindale probably isn’t going to go down too well with the vast majority of Rangers fans. We all know his allegiances but his strengths lie in getting the best out of a limited group of players paying attention to the fundamentals and keeping tactics uncomplicated.

Sitting in, counter-attacking or playing long balls is probably not what we’d be wanting to see. Martindale is a good, even underrated manager, but an option to replace Gio if he goes? I think even his harshest critics would rather keep the current manager than make that change.
