Rangers fans with their notifications switch on will have jumped when their phone or electronic device pinged at 10:30 this morning.

Two days after a dismal display in Perth and it looks as though Giovanni van Bronckhorst will continue to be the manager, despite growing concerns about his ability to lead the club forward and stop the rot and the hierarchy remaining silent.

An expectation has now turned to acceptance so, when the club announced that Rangers are to play Bayer Leverkusen in December prior to competitive action kicking off again, many would have thought that an entirely different statement was about to be made.

As it is, the club has done the right thing, for once, when it comes to ticket prices and for all that it might not be what fans want to hear at this moment in time, if international football isn’t your thing, getting the chance to see Rangers will provide a welcome respite.

There will be the usual priority for season ticket holders with general access tickets priced at £10 for adults, £7 for concessions and only £5 for juniors.

There are still two games to go before the break though so, anything could happen in terms of our managerial situation. It is looking increasingly likely that Gio is here for the long haul and being tasked with overseeing the transition of our squad from the one that won the title to one that has academy players at its very core.

We can only hope that when some of our injured players return, maybe even for this fixture, they provide the much-needed spark to get us back into a title race that many already believe is over.
