Rangers fans expecting Todd Cantwell to be our first winter signing could be in for a surprise after football’s main man when it comes to transfers revealed that we are in negotiations to add to our forward department.

Writing on his Twitter feed, Fabrizio Romano, who is widely regarded as the go-to source for rumours and speculation, has claimed that the earlier link with Morgan Whittaker is accurate and that all of the relevant parties are working to get a deal over the line.

The bid, as detailed in The Sun, is £900,000 with Swansea City looking for £2million. If Whittaker has been deemed surplus to requirements and wants to leave, it should certainly makes our negotiations a lot easier.

Whittaker might have spent the first half of this season in League 1 but with nine goals and seven assists, he proved that he can bring numbers to an attack, in the same league that Joe Aribo rose to prominence at a similar age.

Rangers fans expecting us to go out and sign established players who still have years left on their contracts are setting themselves up for disappointment, we’ve seen players like Joey Veerman and Andreas Skov Olsen cost PSV and Brugge over £7m each, we just don’t have those resources – especially with a squad needing some serious work, but that’s another story.
