Ryan Jack is a player hoping to earn himself a new contract at Rangers before it ends in the summer but he has to be consistently good and consistently available.

Against Dundee United and Aberdeen he got his sleeves rolled up and justified his selection in both games, that he played the full 120 minutes and was barely out of breath when he walked off the park is evidence that he is back to full fitness – he will be an important member of Michael Beale’s squad if we are to end the season with silverware.

As in the Scottish Cup final on our last trip to Hampden when he scored a decisive opening goal, Jack once again was hugely important as he scored Rangers leveller, The Daily Record giving him an 8/10 on their player ratings and a glowing review:

“Got the tools out when it was clear it was going to be a battle on that surface. Tried to support the attack and it paid off as he savoured his goal against his old club.”

Jack would have loved that moment against a team he once captained but left under a cloud and continues to receive abuse from Aberdeen fans to this day, bitter that his career hit heights that they will never see – the Gers midfielder taking great delight on Instagram.

“Thanks for coming”.

We all know that Aberdeen fans wouldn’t be bothered about winning the final had they managed to beat us, playing us at Hampden is their cup final. That they still boo Jack’s every touch nearly six years after he left them says it all about their mentality.

They came, the saw, they left with their tails between their legs, raging that one of their own was the man who turned the game. Poor little lambs.
