Kemar Roofe, as he has so frequently done, proved to be the winner at Hampden yesterday, the Rangers striker’s first goal since the famous night against Braga at Ibrox in April but he would have left the national stadium a frustrated figure.

A heavy fall saw the Jamaica international replaced by Charlie McCann in extra-time with Gers gaffer Michael Beale giving a positive update via The Rangers Review:

“Kemar can’t catch a break, he comes on and gets the winner and then goes off injured. We will have an x-ray on that tomorrow, it’s not a dislocation so we’re hoping it’s just a bad landing and a sore one.

“With Antonio Colak out and Kemar, the group deserve huge credit for continuing to win under pressure.”

If it’s not a dislocation or a break he should be able to recover relatively quick, a bit of taping and strapping and he’ll be good to go along with the usual assortment of pain killers that is.

After being out for so long with his recurring calf problem, the last thing he will want is to miss more time just as he is getting back to full fitness and looking to get more minutes on the pitch. The striker jersey is up for grabs and he will be wanting to stake his claim.

His goal is the perfect example of what he brings to the Rangers attack, I don’t think there is anyone else in the squad that has that finish in their locker – if anyone deserves a lucky break, rather than a physical one, it’s Kemar Roofe.
