There are sources and then there are sources, there are also people who can be trusted as being reliable and others that are best ignored.

Andrew Dickson comes under the category of someone with an opinion that Rangers fans can trust, his position at Sky Sports and former employment at Ibrox also adds weight to his credibility.

Writing on his Twitter feed, Dickson didn’t quite say that Michael Beale is being economical with the truth in terms of Rangers offer for Morgan Whittaker, however, as he explains, he thinks that there might yet be life in it:

“Must say I’m not totally convinced a Rangers deal for Morgan Whittaker is dead in the water ahead of tomorrow night.

“It does nobody any favours to have a young player not playing and wanting to be somewhere else.

“Still one to watch over the next 24 hours or so, I think.”

Beale said in his pre-match press conference for the mid-week trip to Hearts that we had made one bid for Whittaker, that it had been rejected and that he expected the player to remain at Swansea. Call me old fashioned but, I’d be hugely surprised if, when trying to sign players, that we only make one offer before walking away.

It might be wishful thinking but, like Dickson, I’d be surprised if Nicolas Raskin is the last new arrival in this window, whether or not it is Whittaker remains to be seen.
