Rangers contract revelation as title winners get set to tie down key men

|

Rangers may have sealed the title and been declared champions but there is plenty of work still to be done both on, and off the park.

The Athletic, almost nonchalantly, slipped into one of the best articles you will read about our success this season, that the players who were approaching the end of their contracts will have to wait until the job is done before anything else can be discussed.

With that in mind, it makes it a little easier to sleep at night knowing that James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis haven’t been getting ignored and now that the Scottish Premiership has been won, hopefully, we will soon see announcements with them all signing shiny new contracts – replacing one irreplaceable player is hard enough, replacing four would stretch even the abilities of Ross Wilson.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

With three new additions already in place, any new signings during the summer will likely be to replace any departures but as we saw last year when Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten arrived, the sporting director is not one to leave things to the last minute.

Having the luxury of being able to make minor adjustments to the squad is one born out of a gradual process of planning and with the emergence of the likes of Nathan Patterson, Stephen Kelly, Kai Kennedy and James Maxwell at senior level, there is no reason why our squad can’t be supplemented with home grown players, all of them have proven their ability in the SPFL this season and should be given the chance to learn alongside some of the finest players to ever wear the famous Light Blue shirt.
