Right wing issues and the signing Rangers have to make

If Giovanni van Bronckhorst isn’t going to play Fashion Sakala on the right-hand side of our attack more regularly then we really need to look at other options.

Ianis Hagi isn’t going through a great period in terms of form but he always has the potential to do something special, he just isn’t suited to playing on the wing when we are trying to create 1 v 1 situations.

Scott Wright looked very sharp when he came on but, in a typical performance, didn’t have the end product to match his endeavour and build up play – he really should have burst the net to make it 1-0 after Alfredo Morelos put him clean through and just six-yards out.

We need a right-sided winger who has a proven track record of scoring goals.

Ryan Kent is hardly prolific but there is, on most occasions, an effort at goal by either himself or another player when he receives the ball in and around the box plus the chaos he causes can create space for others.

Some of the players we’ve been linked with included Bright Osayi-Samuel, Francis Amuzu, Viktor Claesson, Andreas Skov Olsen and Zinedine Ferhat but, despite decent numbers, none of them are a 15-20 goal a season player which is exactly what we need.

Hopefully, Ross Wilson has a hidden gem up his sleeve and can finally solve a problem that seems to have been an issue ever since Steven Gerrard took charge in 2018, it’s the one position that’s never been nailed down by anyone but the one that needs to be addressed the most – my preference would still be to give Sakala a proper run in the team, he’s looked a threat whenever he’s played and yet he’s rarely, if ever, started two games on the bounce, he could well be the answer to our prayers.
