It’s been a good week for Rangers fans, an Old Firm win which ended Celtic’s season and now reports that two of Steven Gerrard’s key players are set to stay for next season’s Champions League campaign.
With Alfredo Morelos said to be discussing a new contract with Ross Wilson, Football Insider has added to the positivity by claiming that Ryan Kent has snubbed a potential move to Leeds United to continue his development at Ibrox:
“A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leeds are still keen on Kent but have been told he wants to stay at Rangers for at least another year.
“That is a huge boost to the recently-crowned Scottish champions as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
“It is said by those close to the situation that the in-form attacker feels a “loyalty” to manager Steven Gerrard and is keen to have a crack at Europe’s top club competition.”
Kent has progressed every season he has been at Rangers and this season has seen him post his best numbers yet with 12 goals and 13 assists, he will inevitably move to the Premier League at some point in his career but if it isn’t to move to a top six club he may feel that a crack at Europe’s elite competition is enough to satisfy him.

Not only does this keep our first XI strong, it has the potential to add value to Kent and those that play in the Champions League, do well and it opens up the prospect of other teams being impressed, much like the rest of this week it’s very much a win-win situation.
