The problem with having a good European run and winning the Scottish Premiership so comfortably is that Steven Gerrard will now have to fight off unwanted attention for some of his star men.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kevin Phillips believes that Leeds United won’t be alone in eyeing up Ryan Kent after the Premier League new boys were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him last summer for over £8million:

“I think there will be a few teams sniffing around a few of the Rangers players.

“It’s just natural. How many times have we seen it over the years? If you go up there and do well then your next move is to the Premier League.

“Ryan Kent, Leeds have obviously been linked with him and made moves for him before. He’s a Scottish champion now so why would Leeds not look at it again?

“He’s certainly a player that a lot of Premier League teams will be looking at. The big job for Stevie G is to convince him to stay and go again.”

Kent is the perfect example of a modern attacker, not only does he produce decent numbers – 11 goals and 13 assists this season – but he also runs himself into the ground knowing that defence starts from the front, he is often the player that starts a press and drives others on around him – no wonder Marcelo Bielsa is an admirer.

In what year did Allan McGregor make his Rangers debut?

As Ross Wilson recently confirmed, we don’t have to sell all our key players and more importantly, they are happy at Rangers, but if and when they do leave, having delivered “55” I’m pretty sure they will leave with our blessing.
