After the confirmation of Todd Cantwell’s move to Rangers from Norwich City thoughts turned to who might be next through the door with speculation surrounding both Nicolas Raskin and Morgan Whittaker.

As yet, there have been no new bids reported for Whittaker, however, there has been an update on Raskin with Belgian news outlet Le Soir claiming this morning that a medical has been passed and a contract signed over the weekend:

“The departure of Nicolas Raskin is becoming clearer: the Standard midfielder has passed his physical and medical tests … in London. It is in the English capital that Nicolas Raskin passed his tests on behalf of Glasgow Rangers on Friday.

“While the Scottish club Rangers claims to have found no agreement with Nicolas Raskin, it is confirmed that he has indeed well passed his physical and medical tests on Friday not in Glasgow but in London, where he had arrived the day before, before finalising his contract on Saturday.”

The reports coming out of Belgium indicate that a pre-contract agreement has been reached but that Ross Wilson is trying to negotiate an immediate transfer. A fee of around £2.2million plus a 20% sell-on clause is the deal being banded around but with Standard Liege dropping Raskin from the senior squad, we certainly hold most, if not all, of the cards.

It might not be a foregone conclusion just yet but it certainly appears as if a deal is close to being sealed, with the medical and contract already sorted, the hard part has already been done.
