Gers linked outcast ticks the boxes for summer move

|

Steven Gerrard will be in the market for a defensive midfielder in the summer and with Manchester United’s James Garner already a target and Vital Rangers hoping that Dejan Ljubicic is on a list of names on Ross Wilson’s desk, we could be in for an interesting window.

One name that came to prominence at the start of this season was Everton’s Muhamed Besic, the 45-times capped Bosnian international who has been in and around the Premier League since 2014 and has played over 100 games in England, he has, however, fallen spectacularly out of favour at Goodison Park where he has spent most of the year with the Under-23 squad.

Besic had been a popular figure at Sheffield United but a proposed return never materialised so too did a possible January move to Reading, at 28-years old, he really should be playing regular football especially when you consider how experienced he is.

The biggest issue at Rangers is Ryan Jack’s injury, we all know what he is capable of when he is fully fit but we just don’t know the full extent of his injury or what the prognosis is going forwards, if we knew that he still had a good few years left at Ibrox then a short-term loan deal would probably be the best bet but in this case a pre-contract/free transfer deal could be equally as beneficial.

Besic is out of contract in the summer and has shown that he can compete at a high level, he may have been deemed surplus to requirements at Everton but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t do a job for us, especially if there is no initial outlay – if it doesn’t work out or if Jack recovers quickly, then there is no harm done, especially if it is on a deal similar to the one that has seen Leon Balogun be so successful.
