Part and parcel of being a Rangers player is not just about being a good footballer, it’s about being able to handle pressure and performing to the best of your ability.
One potential summer arrival is James Garner, the Manchester United youngster currently on loan at Nottingham Forest and with his agent bringing his client’s name firmly into the spotlight, he could have been forgiven if he wasn’t at his best in his side’s match against QPR.
The 20-year old poured cold water on any doubts about his temperament though with a stunning free-kick and, not only that, walked away with the man of the match award, pressure? What pressure?
Rangers were confirmed by Garner’s agent to have been interested in January when his short-term loan at Watford came to an end and, with the defensive midfielder having just a year left to run on his Old Trafford contract, they are expected to return with an offer when the transfer window re-opens.
Vital Rangers Player of the Year 2020/21
Midfield has become a priority area recently, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield are well into their thirties, Bongani Zungu won’t be around next season by the looks of it, Glen Kamara will no doubt attract interest after the European Championships and Ryan Jack doesn’t seem to be getting any luck at all on the injury front – even with Nnamdi Ofoborh coming in, we will need at least one more quality addition.
Garner certainly seems to have the ability having excelled in England’s second tier this season, and after his bank holiday performance, he also appears to have the mentality to make it in a Light Blue shirt.
