Rangers take on Liverpool at Ibrox tomorrow night and the initial thought process of just making a good account for ourselves surely has to be upgraded to trying to win the game?

This may seem fanciful after last week’s encounter, however, Liverpool’s form, injury problems and fixture list has swung the game closer to our direction, add this to our performances at Ibrox in Europe as well as upturn in domestic results and we should be full of confidence.

If anything, the fact that it is a free hit should give our players a sense of freedom, a liberty that they demonstrated against Borussia Dortmund last season and gave us one of the finest European results in the club’s history.

I am adamant that we have the players to get a result, however, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to get his shape and system right and then the players that are picked have to be brave in and out of possession – they also can’t afford to play anything other than their “A” games.

Gio has more players fit than at any stage since he first arrived in terms of regular starters too, other than Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence we are as near to full strength as we can get. Ben Davies has now settled and proven that he is the long-term replacement for the unfortunate Filip Helander and Kemar Roofe is in full training.

The manager has said that we will be positive, let’s hope that he is a man of his word and we see the European Rangers that we have become so accustomed to over the last few seasons and the one that – at Ibrox – fears nobody.
