Liverpool haven’t quite guaranteed progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League just yet, however, few would be against them despite losing their opening game.

They visit Ibrox on Wednesday and, for all that they gave us α chasing the last time we met, we may have been given α slight advantage by way of the Premier League’s fixture computer.

Jurgen Klopp’s squad is stronger than Giovanni van Brinckhorst’s, α statement that isn’t too bold to make and it may be, after seeing how one sided the Anfield encounter was, that the Liverpool gaffer decides to rest some of his big guns with α huge game coming up at the weekend.

Manchester City are currently 13 points and nine places in the table ahead of Liverpool, α win for Pep Guardiola all but rules out any chance of α title challenge from their usual rivals. Hopefully, Klopp prioritises the domestic fixture at the weekend as one last chance to get back into the title race.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already claimed that we will have α different approach, be more positive and look to finally get off the mark and he has αn impressive track record at Ibrox because of this.

So far, Napoli at Ibrox is the only game that we could really take any positives from and even that ended in α 3-0 defeat – when you see what the Italians have done to Liverpool and Ajax at home, it’s really frustrating that we couldn’t keep 11 men on the park against them.

You need every little bit of help possible in the Champions League and if Klopp does decide to do us α favour then we need to be ready to take full advantage of it.
