Liverpool losing to Arsenal was probably the worst thing that could happen for Rangers, similar to them drawing against Brighton before our first game in the double-header, they will be keen to make amends.

It’s been a weekend of bad news for Jurgen Klopp’s side though, the loss against Arsenal means that they are all but out of the title race which makes prioritising the Champions League a bit easier, however, with Manchester City next up at the weekend, another loss could see them facing a real struggle just to make the top four.

And that’s not all.

A lengthy injury list has just had a few names added to it with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Arthur Melo joining a host of top players on the sidelines, Klopp will be unlikely to risk any vulnerable players with such a big game on the horizon.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will not have a better chance to have a real go at a top side in the Champions League and, after the Anfield display, will be determined to be more positive and prove that his team does deserve to be in the competition and that we aren’t there simply to make the numbers up.

With zero points and zero goals, we really need to salvage, at least, some pride if we are to exit at the group stages.

Klopp will still have the luxury of being able to call up international players to replace those that are missing but with almost half his first-choice XI unavailable, could Rangers do the unthinkable and pull of a morale boosting shock?
