Rangers in 17-cap transfer boost as January swoop takes step closer

|

Rangers have been given a boost in their “pursuit” of Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean after it was revealed that the 17 times Scotland cap will be out injured for a matter of weeks, rather than months.

The Scottish Sun has reported on the Canaries gaffer’s comments that the 28-year old has received good news with regards to the knee injury that had expected to keep him out for most of the season:

“For the long term, some good news.

“Kenny McLean could have been out for four or five months but that’s not the case.

“He could be back around Christmas.”

It is good news for Rangers who are rumoured to be looking to make either a permanent or loan-to-buy offer for McLean having originally tried to sign the former Aberdeen midfielder in 2017.

Steven Gerrard is well equipped in the engine room but given the volume of games, there is plenty of opportunity for them to get games between now and the end of the season and McLean would fit into our style of play perfectly.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

He has shown that he can perform in the SPFL and at a “higher” level in both the Championship and Premier League in England and is well aware of the standards that are required at Ibrox as a known fan of the club.

With Scott Arfield and Steven Davis both well into their 30’s, McLean would represent a good value option as a long-term replacement, should they decide to follow up their original interest in making his boyhood dream come true.
