Rangers have a settled and well balanced squad at the moment but that doesn’t mean that the forward planning for next year hasn’t begun and that Ross Wilson will be resting on his laurels.

With Kenny McLean and Preston’s Daniel Johnson already said to be targets, there is another name that has been linked that has potentially taken a step closer to a move to Ibrox.

Bright Osayi-Samuel of Queen’s Park Rangers is out of contract at the end of the summer and the forward fits the profile of the sort of player that would fit into Steven Gerrard’s current system, having been linked with a move in the summer.

The 22-year old might not be displaying his best form with just two goals and three assists in his 14 appearances so far this season but we all know about Mark Warburton’s style of play and how it can be easy to defend against once the novelty has worn off.

The Championship side’s manager revealed this week that Osayi-Samuel’s contract talks have “stalled” and with the January transfer window just  few weeks away, he will soon be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

The £3million rated forward has started every game that he has been fit and available for, missing just two games all season and he has been deployed either on the right or left-hand side of the attack.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

Although Gerrard has found a good balance in his front three, there is definite scope to add a player that could cover for Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe, Brandon Barker continues to get the opportunity to prove that he can do the job but still has a long way to go before Rangers fans will be convinced that he has what it takes.

Wilson has impressed since taking over from Mark Allen as sporting director and has a decent strike rate with regards to his work in the transfer market, maintaining the momentum that has been built up since the summer will be key in this title race, and a couple of fresh faces would certainly help.
