It’s safe to say that Rangers are in a good place just now.

Scottish champions, a return to Europe’s premier cup competition on the horizon and a squad that is not only settled, but bursting with talent.

Across the city, the same can’t be said with uncertainty surrounding their key players and not much movement in the opposite direction either, in short, it is a great opportunity for Rangers to really put the foot down.

Steven Gerrard’s former England team-mate, Paul Robinson, believes this is exactly what we have done with the signing of John Lundstram, and has backed 55 to be the start of something special, as reported by Football Insider:

“I can’t see many players wanting to exit Rangers at the moment.

“Unless they aren’t happy with their game time. What Gerrard is building there, it’s a really special time to be there and be a part of it.

“There won’t be a huge queue for the exit door at Rangers. Regardless of whether players play every week or not.

“In the next two or three seasons, Celtic are rebuilding. They have lost Scott Brown, they need an overhaul of the squad and they have a new manager in.

“Rangers have the potential to dominate Scottish football again for the next two or three years.

“I can’t see many players wanting to leave.”

We know that players will be sold but it won’t be a mass exodus and we can trust the recruitment team to acquire decent replacements, they will have known for a while that players like Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos will be in demand and will have lists drawn up already.

Will Rangers be stronger than last season?

Hopefully Robinson is right and that there is a return to dominance at Ibrox, Gerrard, despite winning the league in unbeaten fashion last time out was still not happy, which is an ominous sign for the rest of Scottish football and those of a green and white persuasion in particular.
