Glen Kamara, unsurprisingly, has been linked with a possible departure from Ibrox this summer after playing and starring in the European Championships.

For Rangers, he has been a key player both at home and abroad and it is felt that it is only a matter of time before he heads to pastures new with the Premier League the most likely destination given his background as a former Arsenal player.

This week though we saw speculation from further afield, but Sky Sports were quick to rule out any concrete interest from the Russians, something Vital Rangers had been able to do the day before.

It is going to be hard to keep him at the club though given his age, ability and transfer value and former Gers defender, Michael Ball, thinks that if an English side comes calling, he could be away, as told to Football FanCast:

“It’s always going to be difficult for Rangers to keep a player like him. I think he’s got a bit of a knock right now but if West Ham and Arsenal come calling, it’s going to be a difficult one for the club to try and keep him.

“Steven would want to keep him.”

Steven Gerrard would always want to keep his best players, hence the reason he wants Kamara tied up to a new deal, not only to reflect his true worth to the team but to protect such a valuable asset.

Who scored Rangers first ever goal under Steven Gerrard in EL qualification?

It is the model that the club has to operate to though and Kamara is the textbook example of how it should work, buy low, develop, then sell at a huge profit that provides enough money to be reinvested into the squad but also to help pay the bills  – only time will tell if Ross Wilson is as good at getting value for money for our players as he is at saving money when getting them in.
