Rangers were dealt a blow when it was announced that Alfredo Morelos was called up to the Colombia squad for the upcoming international break that the Scottish Premiership is playing through, however, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has secured reinforcements from within.

The Gers gaffer has recalled Cedric Itten from the Bundesliga – making a goal scoring return against Stirling Albion – and Kemar Roofe is also back in action, with the Jamaican international having played less than a game and a half under the new manager.

Thankfully, Roofe hasn’t been called up by his country with GvB glad to have the extra options ahead of a packed and hugely important fixture list, as reported by The Herald:

“We wanted to have more options in attack and with Morelos not available for the coming games and Itten and Kemar back we have options. We need all the options we have for the coming weeks as it is going to be a tight schedule with hard games.

“We didn’t bring him (Itten) back just to be on the bench here, we brought him back to give the squad something extra and something different. I’m sure that his qualities will be needed for the rest of the season.

“Kemar is feeling good and it was nice to give him some minutes. He played against Hibs and then started against Lyon and then he has been out since then. I’m glad he is back as he is one of the players who has worked hard to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

The pair will be like the proverbial new signings and will definitely get a chance to impress given that Morelos will be missing for a few games, Van Bronckhorst’s shape and system will get the best out of two players who love to be in and around the box getting on the end of chances.

We are just starting to see key players return to fitness and it couldn’t come at a better time, all we need now is for Ross Wilson to put his hand in his pocket and sign a right winger and we’ll be sorted.
