Steven Gerrard has something of a selection issue when the Champions League qualifiers come around next week.

In some areas, he will have difficult decisions based on form and the strength in depth he has at his disposal, in others, it will be more about who he has left.

In attack, Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos will both be unavailable for selection so new boy Fashion Sakala and Cedric Itten will fight it out for who gets top spot through the middle.

Itten has shown, in the few opportunities that he has been given, that he can score goals if given the ammunition, against Madrid it was barely a half chance but the finish was outstanding, causing Alan Hutton backing him to find his best form this season.

He’s shown he can score all sorts of goals too, and, if Gerrard does back the 24-year old, I wouldn’t bet against him finding the net once again against Malmo.

There is, of course, another option – play them together with Ryan Kent pulling the strings behind them, something we’ve seen before with Roofe and Morelos.

We’ve not really seen the pair play together in pre-season so it would be a surprise, the game against Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday likely to give the biggest indication as to what the manager is thinking.

Playing both of them caters to several tactics, they both love to get shots off with either foot and can run the channels, Itten is good at dropping deep and bringing others into play whilst Sakala loves to play on the shoulder of the last man, in short, they could compliment each other really well – what they do have in common is that if chances are created for them, they will take them.
