There’s no doubting that Neil Lennon has enjoyed the proverbial luck of the (Northern) Irish whilst in charge at Celtic, but signs are starting to emerge that all is not well in the East End.

To summise, Lennon has never won a Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in the top flight without any extenuating circumstances or a stroke of fortune to help him on his way, but, it is starting to run out.

We all know what happened in 2012, and when he took the reins from Brendan Rodgers nearly two years ago his side were well clear at the top and all he had to do was make sure that he picked the same team every week, without changing any tactics, to ensure success.

Yes, his side had a ridiculous level of consistency last season but it was a refereeing mistake that gifted them the first trophy of the season and we all know how the league title was ultimately decided.

Despite the fact they remain a game in hand away from being just three points behind, panic buttons are already being hit as shown by his bizarre rant at the media following a poll over whether or not he should continue as Celtic manager, as reported by BBC Sport:

“We’ve lost one game in the league and pundits are talking about me being two games away from the sack. Players getting singled out, abused, criticised, it’s absolutely shocking.

“It’s media driven, there’s no question of that. I have seen two newspapers run polls on whether I should get sacked or not. I have never seen it before in 20 years I have been here.

“There’s no justification for me to be sacked. None whatsoever.”

Considering there were polls when Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha were at Rangers and when Alex McLeish was in charge of Scotland, either he missed those ones or he is being selective with the truth to suit his agenda.

Is Lennon starting to crack?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The very fact that he doesn’t just laugh off the claims rather than reacting in such a “toys out of the pram” manner shows how much the pressure is getting to him.

At Vital Rangers we tend not to pay too much attention to what is going on across the city but there has been a visible media shift in recent weeks, coinciding with Rangers being made favourites for the league, funny that.
