Bongani Zungu has finally taken to the training pitch at Auchenhowie after being released from quarantine as the South African comes in to add quality to Rangers already stellar midfield department.

Speaking on Rangers TV, the 28-year old was visibly delighted to get his boots back on and join his team mates, having watched them whilst in isolation, courtesy of the analysis team.

He said of his move to Glasgow, which was a long time in the making:

“It means a lot to me and I am very happy to be here to play for a team with such a great, rich history – the most successful team in the world – so I am very happy to be here.

“When I was young in South Africa growing up, my dad used to speak to me and my brother about the club, and I had an idea of the club and I knew about Rangers.

“Of course, when the team was interested in me, I did my research and then I realised it was such a huge club.

“I was working very hard and I got the two games at Amiens, then I had to come here and be quarantined and the club provided me with the necessary equipment to work at home. I feel good and I feel fit and whenever the gaffer decides to call me to play, I feel ready.”

Gers fans will be excited to get a first glimpse of the Bofana Bofana star, intrigued as to what he will bring to the Light Blues engine room, describing what he will bring to the team sounds like a mixture of Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara rolled into one.

It will be easier for Zungu – rated at £3.6m by Amiens – to settle in a team that is playing well and he has already spoken about Steven Gerrard’s plans for how he wants him to fit into his system, as well as studying the previously mentioned analysis videos.

The two fixtures this week might come a bit early but it won’t stop us from getting excited when the team news is announced, hoping for a first sighting of the man known affectionately as “Ben 10” in his homeland.
