The rangers injury list is easing slightly, although Michael Beale could have done with not losing John Lundstram the moment Nicolas Raskin walked through the door.

Thankfully, the fixture list is relatively kind in that we are only playing one game a week, which gives those who are on the way back more time to train and less games to miss.

Speaking as part of the pre-match press conference for Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle, the Gers gaffer revealed that Lundstram’s ankle knock is not as bad as first feared, as reported by The Herald:

“Lundstram won’t be available this weekend and should hopefully be back for the Livingston game.

“We had some good news on that one. He took a sore one on his ankle. He went to block a shot and rolled his ankle.

“At the time we were thinking we won’t take any risks with it because obviously we had a particularly strong bench.

“Hopefully he will be back for Livi next week but he will definitely be back for the final at the end of the month.”

Lundstram’s name will already be pencilled in to start against Celtic at Hampden, he might not have been at his best this season but he has looked better in recent weeks and was outstanding against Hearts – it would also be a big game to throw Raskin in straight from the start.

An artificial pitch isn’t exactly the best of surfaces to rehabilitate an ankle injury though so Beale will have to be careful with how he uses Lundstram on his return. The more depth and quality that he has available, the better our chances will be of lifting silverware in a couple of weeks time.
